Creative Cypher: Live Art Event

Come join us on Saturday, April 27 from 2:30 pm to 4 pm as we host Charlotte Is Creative and local artists, Sonorous Wave, J Henry Studio, and DOOGA for a "Creative Cypher."
Come support your local artists and learn about the history of the land, people, and contested meanings of the site. Listen to spoken word performances, watch live painting performances, and hear live music with community friends and neighbors.
Afterwards, the live paintings will be on display in the Site's visitor's center.
This free event will be held outside and guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on.

Catawba Panel Unveiling

Come join us on Saturday, April 27 from 11 am to 11:30 am as we unveil an interpretive panel about the Catawba Nation on-site.
Over the past 3 years, staff from the Polk Site and Catawba Cultural Center have worked together to create this panel. The event will include short statements from staff and recognition of the panel's historic significance.

Susie Worcester Cooking Demonstrations

This winter, join Susie Worcester in our Historic Kitchen House as she recreates historic foods from the North Carolina backcountry. Susie uses historic receipts to make her food preparation as authentic as possible.
